2023 Wallex US Open of Surfing Presented by Pacifico Returns to Huntington Beach, California July 29

WHAT: The World Surf League (WSL) will host the 2023 Wallex US Open of Surfing Presented by Pacifico, in Huntington Beach, California, from July 29 through August 6, 2023. The event is Stop No. 4 on the 2023 Challenger Series where surfers showcase their talents for the chance to qualify for the following season of the elite-level Championship Tour (CT). The US Open of Surfing will also host the Huntington Beach Longboard Classic, the first of four stops on the 2023 WSL Longboard Tour.

Fans can expect more than just a surfing competition, as the US Open’s festival-style setup will include fun activities and experiences for the whole family.


The nine-day event window will include WSL One Ocean activations, beach games, food trucks, live music, surfboard shaping, WSL Rising Tides, athlete signings, and more. This year’s edition of the US Open of Surfing is thrilled to unveil a new exhibition by Nitro Circus.

  • WSL Rising Tides: Friday, July 28th, 2:30-4:00 pm

  • Nitro Circus ‘Full Throttle FMX’ shows: Saturday, July 29, and Saturday, August 5

  • WSL One Ocean Beach Cleanup (Private event): Wednesday, August 2, 10:00 am - 11:00 am

  • WSL One Ocean Beach Cleanup (Open to public): Thursday, August 3, 10:00 am - 11:00 am

  • WSL One Ocean Oyster Restoration: Friday, August 4, 9:00 am - 11:00 am

The 2023 Wallex US Open of Surfing Presented by Pacifico will feature a local and international contingent of rising talent from around the world including Southern California’s Cole Houshmand and Alyssa Spencer, alongside Jacob Willcox (AUS), Imaikalani deVault (HAW), Vahine Fierro (FRA), and Luana Silva (BRA). Former Championship Tour surfers hoping to find their way back on Tour will also compete in this event such as Samuel Pupo (BRA) and Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS). They will be joined by some of the world's best surfers including Filipe Toledo (BRA), Kanoa Igarashi (JPN), and Caroline Marks (USA). The Huntington Beach Longboard Classic will see the world’s best competitive longboard surfers including Taylor Jensen (USA), Soleil Errico (USA), Kelis Kaleopa'a (HAW), and Harrison Roach (AUS).
