Getting this epic shot of Joel Tudor surfing at Blacks Beach with my water housing was quite the adventure.

All the ingredients were there for an unforgettable session — It was a Santa Ana (east) winds day, negative tide, overhead surf, and high vibes.

I remember the anticipation building as I geared up and made my way into the water, feeling the energy of the offshore winds whipping around me.

With this emerald green wave rolling in, I knew it was the moment I had been waiting for.

As Joel carved through the waves, his silhouette against the backlighting created a mesmerizing scene.

I had to stay alert, constantly adjusting my position in the water to catch the perfect angle.

Despite the adrenaline pumping through me, there was also a sense of calm as I focused on capturing the beauty of the moment.

It was a test of both skill and patience, but when I finally got the shot – the one where Joel seemed to defy gravity on the wave – it was all worth it.

This image captured not just the athleticism of surfing, but also the raw power and beauty of nature, making it a truly unforgettable experience.
